Today we are going to take a look how we can block the Windows 10 upgrade. If you are happy with your operating system (Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1) and you have no intention of upgrading to Windows 10, then you are probably going to block that upgrade to Windows 10. The way you can do that is using a piece of software which allows you to disable all the functionality for that upgrade. So you don’t get the nagging box down the bottom right corner here, you take this icon away. Also, you get rid of $Windows.~BT and $Windows.~WS folders on your C drive. These are upgrade files that you want to delete as well.
Let’s quickly have a look at the upgrade section here. Open up your Control Panel and then go to Windows Update.

As you can see, your operating system is ready to upgrading to Windows 10. If you are not happy with that, if you don’t want to do upgrade, we will help you. It’s not that easy for you, so let us just show you guys how to do it.
First of all we need to view our upgrade history. Go to Installed Updates and you will see a lot of components inside. Type KB3035583 in the search box and it will show you the upgrade file for Windows 10. You can uninstall it manually, but it’s a lot easier to uninstall all the things with the tools.

There are a lot of programs that actually can help you with that. We will show you three of them.
The first one is GWX Control Panel. It gives you all the information about those annoying Windows 10 things. This tool also gives you a link to these folders on your C drive.
You can download it from here:
http://ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/
It allows you disable and delete all this content. You can quickly remove all those annoying icons, folders and pop-up windows. Also, you can delete Windows 10 programs, clear Windows Update cache.

There are a couple of other programs you can use, so we will quickly show you how to work with these tools.
Another one you can use to get rid of Windows 10 Upgrade is I Don’t Want Windows 10:
https://github.com/rn10950/I-Dont-Want-Windows-10/releases/tag/2.0
This program allows you to disable some stuff. We do like the GWX Control Panel better, but this is another one.
And the third tool we do recommend you to use is the program from the Steve Gibson website. The program called Never 10 is very easy to use. You just need to click on the button down here and it will disable that Windows 10 upgrade. If you want to know more about this program, you can click on the link below:
https://www.grc.com/never10.htm
It tells you all the information about what this program is and what it does.
So, let’s go ahead and remove all those things. Go to GWX Control Panel and disable those features. After that you will see that information in the section ahead was changed. There are no more icons or running apps.

Once you’ve disabled all those things, you have to delete the folders from your C Drive. Just do it by clicking on the appropriate button and it will clear it out.

Also, you can change Windows update settings. We can change it to “Never check for updates”. It’s not recommended here, so you can select “Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them”.

After that you have to take the tick out where it says “Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates”, because this is going to download that Windows 10 again, so we don’t want that.
That’s pretty much it. As you can see, the icon now disappeared here and if we check our C Drive, we won’t find the folders with updates.
